Job Summary: The Accountant will provide excellent financial and administrative support to the Foundation. Support will be provided to the Accounting and Finance Department by timely and accurate preparation of accounting entries. They will also provide assurance of accuracy of transactions by reviewing transactions prepared by others, including gifts and grant entries initiated by other departments.

Specific responsibilities

?? Assist with preparation of monthly statements, including income statement, balance sheet and other financial documents as needed by the board and staff.

?? Prepare bank reconciliations, including researching outstanding checks

?? Prepare reconciliations of accounts

?? Balance investment pools

?? Assist in the preparation of reports for meetings of the Governing Board.

?? Prepare and update an annual operating budget of GHCF and or supporting organizations. Measure and report performance against the budget.

?? For year–end audit prepare audit schedules; provide required documentation; prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor queries.

?? Prepare quarterly and monthly donor fund statements at least quarterly.

?? Facilitate the month–end close process including bank and general ledger account reconciliations, journal entries, income allocation, administrative fee calculation, etc. Prepare monthly financial and management reports.

?? Provide suggestions and documentation to maintain and update the Foundation's approval authorization manual documenting all identified operating transactions of the organization.

?? Reconcile accounting and subsystem information to produce all reports necessary for required regulatory reporting including IRS Form 990 for GHCF and its supporting organizations.

?? Manage daily cash positions with the various holding/checking accounts

?? Identify any cash transaction not recorded within two business days.

?? Create and update Crystal Reports used in conjunction with our financial system.

?? Monitor A/P and Grant documents for appropriate account coding and approvals. Also monitor cash balances in individual funds accounts.

?? Other accounting and administrative responsibilities as assigned

Other responsibilities

?? Master the identified software applications (FIMS, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

?? Other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications:

?? Undergraduate degree in accounting;

?? At least three years of accounting experience;

?? Primary responsibility for preparation of monthly financial statements;

?? Excellent written and oral communication skills;

?? Ability to work comfortably in unstructured situations with staff, board members, committees and volunteers;

?? Ability to multi–task and manage multiple activities and respond to deadlines;

?? A poised, confident, team–oriented and mature approach to work;

?? Excellent computer skills for spreadsheet applications (Excel) and word processing (Word); proficient with macros in Word and Excel;

?? Experience with Crystal Reports and Access is desirable;

?? Ability to handle detailed and confidential information.

Physical Requirements

?? Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move files up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 20 pounds occasionally

?? Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or reach frequently

?? Ability to remain in a stationary position 65% of the time

?? Ability to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. 35% of the time
