The Cost Analyst maintains and monitors cost and manufacturing accounting processes and operations analysis for the Hurst Jaws of Life location. This is a developmental role for a proactive and creative problem solver who will be responsible for the timely and accurate collection and reporting of cost and inventory–related financial information and cost variance analysis. The role participates in the monthly accounting close process, as well as inter–departmental projects as required to support business decisions and profitability. Position requires knowledge of U.S. GAAP and manufacturing/financial reporting, Sarbanes–Oxley, and business operations in a growth–oriented environment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Participates in the month–end close process, including preparation of required journal entries, supplemental schedules, and account reconciliations.Responsible for accounting for fixed assets and maintenance of detail schedules related to the fixed assets.Prepares and reviews various daily/weekly operating metrics to monitor business performance.Analyzes and reviews bills of material to ensure accurate product costing.Prepares actual versus budget analysis, manufacturing profit variance analysis, and actual to standard cost comparisons.Organizes and performs the standard cost roll process and proposes improvements in operations and working capital.Partners with Operations staff to support inventory reduction objectives, make vs. buy, and capex decisions.Maintain standard costs and input new product pricing in JDE.Assist Accounting Manager in SOX compliance and external and internal financial audits as needed,Assist Accounting Manager in preparation of burden study, full absorption studies, annual cost roll, and other corporate requirements, as needed. ?? Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES ?? Bachelor Degree in Accounting and/or Finance from an accredited educational institution.?? Minimum of 1–3 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment or public accounting experience preferred.?? Superior verbal and written communication skills to work effectively within and outside of the accounting department. ?? Consistently operates at the highest level of integrity and is never willing to compromise with regards to ethical standards.?? Experience in a process focused organization (Six Sigma, Value Streams) and experience working with JDE or ERP Systems is highly desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (advanced in Excel) required.
