Your team’s mission?

The purpose of the Group Payments Tech Area is to transform Payments by fortifying existing platforms, simplifying and standardising processes and technology and by enabling our business through reusable end to end services.

As a DB Engineer, you’ll bring the following experience:

Design, implement and maintain our relational database systems for performance and reliability. You're responsible for tuning and configuring our databases as well as building tools and scripts to monitor, troubleshoot and automate our systems. You propose test plans and interface with external groups, developers and service owners to arrive at optimal solutions.

You will be a member of the Engineering Chapter and Database Engineering guild. As a member you will share ideas and knowledge and partner with your Chapter Lead to uplift the capability of the chapter.

What you bring to the role as a Database Engineer in Payments

  • Actively participate in scalability and improvisation of end to end system
  • Participate and recommend time to market tools and make system adequately performant
  • Actively participate in system design and capacity planning
  • Govern, measure and maintain availability and health of our databases and platform
  • Always keen to bring fresh ideas around database tools and distributed computing

You will also have the following specialised skills:
  • Oracle 11g , DynamoDB, Postgres or MongoDB
  • Full stack database knowledge from database kernel to cloud service platform
  • Automation of database lifecycle management and tuning
  • Expertise in a in-memory caching solution i.e. Redis, Ignite, Hazelcast, Cassandra
  • Strong Unix, Linux scripting and debugging and problem solving
  • Database optimization and normalization, query optimization, indexing
  • Database partitioning and monitoring
  • Database archiving and ETL methodologies
  • Should have cloud storage knowledge
