Your team’s mission?

The purpose of the Group Payments Tech Area is to transform Payments by fortifying existing platforms, simplifying and standardising processes and technology and by enabling our business through reusable end to end services.

As an API Engineer, you need to actively engage in the whole lifecycle (inception, design, development, testing, deployment, operation, monitoring and refinement) of systems and services.

You will enforce strong API delivery skills and implement best practices that align to the tribe vision. You will role model delivery excellence in the area of API development and frameworks.

You will also be expected to groom and mentor chapter members and build a cohesive growth oriented culture aligning to the ANZ’s Great Place to Grow vision.

You will be a member of the Engineering Chapter and API Engineer guild. As a member you will share ideas and knowledge and partner with your Chapter Lead to uplift the capability of the chapter.

As an Engineer, you’ll bring the following experience:

As an Environment Engineer, you will bring solid domain knowledge or deep working understanding of environment management and DevOps.

You will be responsible for working within squad to deliver world class features and as a Squad member, contributing to the accomplishment of the Squad’s mission. Working and developing topic expertise and personal development by supporting a continuous development culture.

You will understand environments and the payments landscape to increase the quality and efficiency of the outcomes being delivered by your Squad as well ensuring the stability of systems.

You will be a member of the Testing Chapter. As a member, you will share ideas and knowledge and partner with your Chapter Lead to uplift the capability of the chapter.

What you bring to the role as an API Engineer, Payments

  • Strong understanding of API development technologies, practices and patterns.
  • Monitor measure and maintain availability and health of our services and platform.
  • Actively participate in end to end system design and delivery.
  • Strong ability to manage incidents/problems/defects, apply fixes and resolve systematic issues while managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Mentor other engineers in the chapter.

You will also have the following specialised skills:
  • Expertise in micro services architecture and implementation.
  • Spring boot APIs like spring cloud, rest, web and more.
  • Containerisation (Docker), Container management Platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift, GKE etc.) and CI/CD activities.
  • Cluster computing, batch processing, integration.
  • One or more of: Python, Perl, Java, GoLang or C along with shell scripting.
