Your team’s mission?

The purpose of the Group Payments Tech Area is to transform Payments by fortifying existing platforms, simplifying and standardising processes and technology and by enabling our business through reusable end to end services.

As a Data Engineer, you’ll bring the following experience:

You will ensure Data is cleansed, reliable and performant data is made available on premise and cloud for reporting, analytics and operational use cases. You will be passionate about building secure, real time and highly available information systems that caters data to wide audience.

You will be a member of the Engineering Chapter and Data Engineering guild. As a member you will share ideas and knowledge and partner with your Chapter Lead to uplift the capability of the chapter.

What you bring to the role as a Data Engineer in Payments

  • Improve the whole lifecycle (inception, design, development, testing, deployment, operation, monitoring and refinement) of systems and services.
  • Always look for opportunities to automate.
  • Monitor measure and maintain availability and health of our infrastructure and platform.
  • Actively participate in system design and capacity planning.
  • Advocate for changes that improve overall platform health and performance.

You will also have the following specialised skills:
  • Knowledge on writing performant application on Spark (Java/Scala) with backends as Hbase, Hive and HDFS.
  • Deep understanding of Unix, shell scripting and have experience in general purpose programming/scripting language (Python/Perl/Go).
  • Hands on experience with frameworks on Hadoop that caters for Data Scientists, Developers and Data Analysts.
  • Basic understanding of containerisation technologies (Docker) and cloud architecture is a must
  • Extensive experience using NoSQL DBs including MongoDB/Cassandra/Hbase.
