Division Description

The Finance & Accounting Division is made up of a number of core finance teams both at business unit and Group level. We perform a key management and control function in ensuring all Group financial and management reporting processes are appropriately governed. The Finance Division has overall responsibility for driving the Group budgeting and forecasting process, developing Group-focused financial insight and analysis and delivering the Group's statutory, regulatory and external reporting. We do this through collaborative business partnering in each of the Divisions and with centralised Finance shared / specialist services.

Description of business unit

The Commercial Partnering Unit has been established in order to drive the strategic direction of the Group. This unit will be the key provider of financial and strategic support to retail businesses in the Republic of Ireland, to help set and achieve their business and strategic objectives.

Purpose of the Role

This position is a senior leadership role, which will be responsible for the commercial partnering of Retail Ireland Business Banking and the Distribution Channels business in Retail Ireland.

Business Banking represents SME customer propositions and businesses in Ireland and offers a wide range of products including Business Current Accounts, Deposits, Overdrafts, Term Lending and Asset Finance. The business has a significant presence across Ireland founded on a strong business advisory team based out of an established branch network.

The role is also responsible for commercial partnering for the Distribution Channels business for Retail Ireland including the branch network and contact centre businesses.

Key Accountabilities

  • Monitor and interpret trends in financial results for the benefit of the Executive Management Team and other key stakeholders. Monitor business performance, costs and capital expenditure. Act as the key financial leader and strategic advisor for Business Banking Products and Distribution Channels, working collaboratively with senior stakeholders in order to drive sustainable business performance.
  • Provide commercial partnering across all aspects of Retail Ireland business through proactively advising on product pricing, technical accounting and valuation, capital analysis, investment decision making and benefit tracking.
  • Partner the business to drive efficiencies and cost reduction objectives.
  • Act as key participant in delivering annual budget, ICAAP and quarterly forecasts for Business Banking Products and Distribution Channels.
  • Establish strong collaborative relationships within Retail Ireland, across the Commercial Partnering Ireland function and Group Finance.
  • Empower the team to contribute their best and maximise their potential, creating a culture of accountability, agility and collaboration.

What is the opportunity

This is a senior leadership role which will be responsible for partnering Business Banking Products and Distribution Channels executives and their leadership teams, to deliver on their performance objectives and will provide support on all relevant strategic, pricing and investment decisions.

The role will report directly to the Lead Commercial Partner - Retail Ireland.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant with 8 years PQE or extensive experience gained within a relevant business environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in a business leadership or senior support role, influencing and informing decision making through the delivery and interpretation of high quality value-adding financial information.
  • Developed commercial and business acumen, including knowledge of both retail products and Irish market.
  • Strong communication skills and adept at establishing professional creditability at all levels in a dynamic Group Structure.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and influencing change in support of business objectives
