Senior Financial Accountant, Statutory Reporting Specialist Insurance

The Role:

A very exciting opportunity has been made available for an experienced Statutory Reporting Specialist to take accountability for Group & external statutory reporting as well as champion the management of external audit requirements. Within the role you will actively contribute to the execution of the strategic objectives of the Groups Finance, as well as maintaining oversight of processes, supporting driving efficiencies & process optimization for financial control processes. You will be joining a high performing team with a great culture fostered for progression & development.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the analysis of statutory reports and meeting reporting requirements for internal and external purposes
  • Contribute to the preparation & maintenance of accurate accounting records in accordance with internal procedures & statutory requirements to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, codes of conduct and best practice guidelines
  • Accountability for the timely submission and delivery of Group & external financial reporting deliverables
  • Work collaboratively with Group, Actuarial, FP&A and offshore shared services team to achieve reporting deadlines with accuracy and integrity
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors with respect to financial audits and actively co-ordinate with other parts of Finance and Business to provide audit requirements
  • Champion and implement continuous improvement within Financial Control
  • Work on adhoc projects as required, including issue identification & recommendation for resolution
  • Coach, develop & mentor junior team members by actively engaging in personal & professional development

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and CA/CPA/CFA Qualified
  • 7 years + post qualification experience within Insurance
  • 4 years + General Insurance industry experience in a similar role
  • Previous Audit background highly advantageous
  • Detailed knowledge of accounting practices & systems within the Insurance industry, with a proven understanding of technical accounting papers
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal and listening) with an ability to communicate complex and/or financial issues in an understandable manner

Salary: $135,000 Package - $145,000 Package + Bonus
