Finance Manager (manufacturing group)

Finance Manager required for a group of manufacturing / engineering businesses based near Oldbury, Birmingham. The group has a combined annual revenue in excess of £30m, and this role will be a divisional Finance Manager with full responsibility for a subset of the subsidiaries. The group has a friendly culture, and being an SME, this role offers excellent scope to really make it your own and have direct impact on the subsidiaries' success.

As the Finance Manager, you will be primarily responsible for production of monthly management accounts and quarterly budgets for your group subsidiaries, and liaising frequently with the Group CFO to discuss business performance against forecast and work to improve their successes. Supported by a very small team, you will have full day-to-day financial control for the companies, and be focused on working with the engineering and manufacturing teams, so operational business partnering experience would be advantageous.

The companies have a unique and interesting product range, which makes the project costing side of the business particularly challenging. As the business grows, you'll also be investing time into improving the cost accounting side of the business - so a thorough understanding of manufacturing environments and cost accounting is required.

About you

You will be a qualified (ACA, ACMA or ACCA) accountant with experience as a Finance Manager or Senior Management Accountant, able to fully run the day-to-day finances for a small handful of companies. Coming from a product-led business is essential, ideally you'll be through-and-through manufacturing or engineering, and have good cost accounting and stock accounting experience. The group is going through a lot of change and there will be numerous upcoming projects to work on, so this isn't for plodders - rather, we're looking for really driven and dynamic finance leaders who fancy a real challenge
