They are looking for someone to lead all areas of the Indirect Tax process and ensure efficient & effective management of Indirect Tax issues in complex supply chains. You will also have strategic discussions with key members of the Trading Team and external stakeholders as well as review and improve controls over Indirect Tax across the group.

Description

  • Strategically advising key members of the team on increasing efficiency of supply chain, including advising on VAT and Indirect Tax implications and proactively developing alternative strategies to avoid cost and complexity.

  • Advice on VAT and Indirect Tax implications on M&A activity

  • Advice on VAT and Indirect Tax implications on potential Brexit ramifications

  • Lead strategic discussions of indirect tax issues across the group, in particular within commercial functions, negotiating contracts with customers and their finance support, enhancing business decisions to boost efficiency leading to a positive impact on profit before tax and ultimately maximising shareholder value.

  • Review Indirect Tax return processes and controls, from systems to returns in Europe, and implement improvements if required.

  • Maintain awareness of Indirect tax and Customs changes relevant to the group and managing system and process change to ensure the group is compliant with current law and is optimising its indirect tax position.

  • Proactively provide advice to stakeholders at all levels of the business to aim to resolve issues before they arrive, or responding to ad hoc queries on all indirect taxes

  • Being willing to develop skills in areas outside Indirect Tax as time and relative priority allows

  • Lead technical analysis of Brexit VAT & Indirect Tax implications to the Group, communicate to business leaders, mitigate potential risk to ensure efficient operations going forward in a complex supply chain.
  • Lead other internal projects to drive supply chain efficiency's, promoting early tax engagement and advice on complex supply arrangements is sought to enable tax and system considerations are built in upfront.
  • Lead process on M&A to mitigate VAT/Indirect risk and increase efficiency's.
  • Assist Internal Audit in review of effective VAT administration / management
  • Lead indirect tax audits around all geographic areas of the group.
  • Proactively ensure that SAP specifications evolve to the ever-changing requirements for indirect tax reporting across all jurisdictions
  • Profile

    • Practical knowledge of applying VAT and Indirect Taxes. Exposure to VAT in more than one country essential
    • Good understanding of international supply chains, in particular in movement of goods.
    • Practical experience of implementing business change to support an Indirect tax cost or process improvement, in particular demonstration of influencing skills.
    • Detailed knowledge of SAP systems and familiarity with designing and testing SAP systems for Indirect tax needs.
    • Practical experience of other Indirect Taxes in international supply chains
    • Comfortable reading and applying VAT legislation, tax cases and published VAT guidance.
    • A genuine interest in broadening tax skills beyond Indirect Tax and/or experience of compliance processes in another UK tax.
    • Able to communicate complex issues to employees at many levels of the business in different countries, including business leaders and Shared Service Centre, many who may not have any Indirect Tax experience
