Our client is a highly successful privately-owned company - they have doubled turnover in the last 3 years to almost £5m. The company employs 35 - 40 staff.
This is a hands on finance role, involving all elements of finance.

A growing SME in Surrey, looking for a commercially minded, and all rounded, Finance Controller
Description
- Implement changes required to deliver regular reporting and control of Project Financials including margins. In order to do this systems and reports will be needed to cover Deferred Revenue / Accrued Revenue and Cost Accruals / Work in Progress to ensure profitability is properly reported.
- Upgrade controls
- Review monthly and daily reports to identify results and trends. These will cover sales; payroll; spending; cash and monthly profit.
- Upgrade reports and KPI's as required to include performance tracking by contribution centre.
- Manage and motivate all finance staff. Ensure finance team have clear roles and areas for personal and business improvement. Give feedback and coaching as needed.
- Establish, maintain and upgrade all systems required to ensure we complies with government legislation and regulation. Suggest updates and improvements in systems as needed.
- Develop budget and planning process to give management the information they need to manage the business.
- Create systems to prevent errors and upgrade as any errors are found.
- Prepare information for regular meetings of management and to share with all employees as needed.
- Prepare revised forecasts for the Financial year that reflect the latest actuals and latest plans.
- Review the monthly Balance Sheet and report on key measures
- Take responsibility for looking after the company's disaster recovery planning and putting in place any measures agreed that will protect the company against the main risks identified.
- Leading the banking relationship and ensuring the company has the appropriate levels of cash headroom required to operate.
- Support the MD in looking after all Employee affairs covering contracts
- Oversee all company accounts and investments.
- Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed and reported.
- Developing the dividend policy with shareholders.
- Control and manage annual audit.
Profile
- The job holder would ideally have a degree in accounting, business, economics or a related field;
- The job holder should be a fully qualified accountant.
- They should have managed staff for at least three years and be comfortable dealing with good and bad performers.
- As the most senior finance employee the individual must show high levels of honesty; integrity and reliability.
- The individual would ideally have an understanding of contracts.
