Undertake internal audits to provide assurance to the Executive Committee and Board on governance and internal control frameworks.

They are the second busiest airport in the world by international passenger traffic, the busiest airport in Europe by passenger traffic, and the seventh busiest airport in the world by total passenger traffic. In 2018, our client handled a record 80.1 million passengers, a 2.7% increase from 2017, as well as 477,604 aircraft movements, an increase of 1,821 from 2017.
Hence, our client describes itself as like a small city: fast moving, diverse and forward thinking. On track for their ninth year of growth, inside the airport lies a wide variety of restaurants and shops. As a result, retail revenue alone is in excess of £568mil. Additionally, our client is passionate about corporate responsibility, providing record funding to inspire young people in the local area, as well as investing heavily in sustainable growth.
Description
Audit Planning: Use internal and external research to develop a thorough understanding of the audit area/process under review and plan the audit to determine objectives and scope of work to be performed. Develop a detailed test programme to support the overall audit objective and allocate resources to deliver the required audit testing. Maintain a flexible approach to enable the adjustment of audit scope should additional risks be identified during the course of the review.
Audit Fieldwork: Demonstrate depth of business knowledge throughout the course of the review. Complete fieldwork in an efficient and effective manner to ensure that budgeted deadlines are met without sacrificing depth of testing and overall review quality. Document the audit testing to ensure audit objectives are achieved, and compile, consolidate and prioritise the results of audit testing.
Audit Reporting: Support the Audit Managers in drafting clear and concise audit findings for inclusion in the audit report that include a clear line of sight between the issues raised and the actions plans, and that provide pragmatic actions to address the root cause of any control deficiencies identified. Discuss audit findings with management and agree appropriate management actions and timeframes for implementation.
Management Actions: Lead on the delivery of monthly management action reporting process to ensure updates are received, analysed and reported accurately and senior managers/Exec are appropriately engaged.
Annual Audit Planning: Using internal and external research and meetings with key stakeholders support the development of the risk based Internal Audit plan.
Profile
Ability to work both at both strategic and operational level and to liaise and work with key stakeholders, business colleagues, IT, Internal and External Auditors and other external advisors as appropriate to support delivery of effective internal audit activity and assurance
Qualifications - Educated to Degree level. Qualified accountant or auditor (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIIA or equivalent) with experience in an operational or financial audit role is essential.
Specific Experience - This role covers all aspects of the Heathrow business and therefore an understanding of the aviation industry, construction/infrastructure development and knowledge of how an international airport operates and the obligations within the regulatory environment in the UK are desirable, but not essential. A detailed understanding of and experience of internal audit in complex operational and commercial environments is essential.
Desirable
Experience of basic IT auditing skills such as, understanding of IT general controls, IT security and user access control.
