About this role Business Unit Overview: BlackRock Finance consists of finance professionals in disciplines such as Financial Reporting & Analysis ("FP&A), Treasury, Taxation and Controllers. This role is within the Edinburgh based Controllers' Group and is part of the wider Tax Operations and Transfer Pricing Execution team, which currently looks after EMEA Corporate Tax & VAT compliance & Tax accounting, and Global Transfer Pricing Execution. In its compliance activities the Edinburgh based team has significant interaction with the London based Corporate Tax Policy team and the NY based US Tax team. Purpose/Background: Based in Edinburgh the individual will report to the Corporate Tax Operations manager and will be responsible for ensuring the day to day running of certain EMEA Corporate Tax compliance and accounting activities. The individual will also work closely with the London based Corporate Tax Policy team and third party advisors throughout Europe. Key Responsibilities: * Ensuring timely and accurate provision of data for non-UK EMEA CIT returns and liaison with third party advisors to prepare and then review the returns for submission. * Assist in the preparation of UK CIT return computations. * Ensuring payment of all EMEA Tax liabilities as and when they arise. * Preparation of USGAAP Tax provisions for all EMEA entities on a monthly basis. * Reconciliation of USGAAP Tax balance sheet accounts all EMEA entities on a monthly basis. * Preparation of annual statutory reporting requirements for all EMEA entities. * Preparation of quarterly statutory reporting requirements for certain UK entities. * Promptly responding to CIT queries from numerous stakeholders; business facing, external advisers, Tax authorities, audit, etc. * Involvement in project work as required. Development Value: Specifically the role offers opportunity to develop knowledge of UK & Overseas tax regimes and USGAAP, IFRS & local territory tax accounting, specifically from a global financial services perspective. There will also be an opportunity to gain understanding/training on global tax issues as well as facing off to a number of finance stakeholders such as; Financial Reporting, Corporate Control, Treasury, Compensation Accounting & Payroll, Treasury, etc. Additionally, as the role is part of the Tax, VAT & Transfer Pricing Operations Team which accounts for EMEA Corporate Tax & VAT compliance & accounting, & Global Transfer Pricing Execution, it therefore offers development and cross training opportunities within a larger team. The team deals with complex modeling and requires liaison with senior management globally, which will be available as candidate progresses. Experience/Competencies: * Good level of technical skills, in excel and general ledger applications (knowledge of Oracle and Hyperion Financial Management would be beneficial). * Experiences in preparing/reviewing CIT returns would be desirable. * Knowledge of current tax legislation/issues would be desirable (non-UK in addition to UK would be beneficial). * Ability to clearly and confidently communicate in verbal and written form. Liaison with non-UK third party advisors and a remote office is required, communication is key. * Self-starter able to work independently when necessary. * Highly organized, strong attention to detail with ability to manage multiple work-streams with varied deadlines. * Organised and methodical, possessing attention to detail and good analytical skills Skills/Qualifications: * CA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CTA Qualified, or equivalent, with a strong academic record (will also consider QBE candidates with strong practical tax/accounting experience). * Experience preferably in Financial Services (Asset Management industry beneficial but not essential).
