About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join our Highways team to work in Maidstone, Kent.

Role Purpose:

  • The purpose of this role is to provide accounting support to the Project Accountant, help in the preparation of weekly, monthly and other reports and forecast;
  • Assists to demobilise the contract when works complete. Simultaneously complete studies with the aim of becoming an assistant accountant.

What you'll be doing

As a Finance Assistant you will:

  • Manage cashflow;
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly OpStat;
  • Accountable for cashflow forecasting;
  • Assist in preparation of budgets and forecasts;
  • Preparation of the PBA Tracker and any relevant bank transfers;
  • Prepares any manual payments;
  • Assist with the support and liaise with Commercial regarding the Client application;
  • Prepare monthly HR stats for PRM pack;
  • Processing of transactions, receipts/GRN postings, invoice processing and supplier queries;
  • Other sundry transactions.

Who we're looking for

Personal Qualities and Experience:

  • Be a part qualified accountant with relevant experience gained within a contracting/projects background is preferable;
  • Good influencing and communication skills, with an ability to command respect at all levels of the organisation;
  • Have the ability to be independent and objective, whilst maintaining effective relationships, is essential;
  • Have good attention to detail, a disciplined and organised approach to work and the ability to handle and work with complex data is required, along with good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel;
  • Understand and implements appropriate controls to processes, procedure and reports.
