Audit Intern

Overall learning objectives

• Prepare audit plan
• Adhere to Singapore Standards on Auditing (SSAs), Revised Singapore Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics, relevant legislation and regulatory changes
• Perform audit procedures to meet objectives of audit engagements
• Apply SSAs and standards in performing an audit
• Investigate inconsistencies arising from audit work
• Prepare audit reports in accordance with SSAs

The interns will be trained to be familiarised with the firm’s systems, policies and procedures as well as CCH iFirm and CCH ProSystem fx Engagement (audit software).

They will be attached to senior auditors to be guided in carrying out the following tasks:

• Audit Planning
  • Perform client acceptance/continuance procedures
  • Prepare comparative trial balance of the audit client
  • Prepare lead schedules that would match with the financial statements
  • Prepare preliminary analytical report
  • Formulate questions to facilitate interview with client
  • Attend planning meeting with the audit team
• Execution
  • Assist the audit senior in carrying out the audit tasks as planned and agreed during the planning phase
  • Perform transactions testing for samples selected
• Completion
  • Assist the audit senior in preparation of the financial statements
  • Review financial statements for inconsistencies, including typo and casting errors
  • Assist in follow-ups of any outstanding issues or documentations
  • Assist in finalizing and releasing of the audit reports
  • Assist in the archiving process
