Our partner is seeking an experienced internal auditor. The ecological, cultural and political context is one of the most challenging yet rewarding in wildlife conservation. The organisation are focussing on an ambitious programme of projects to ensure the financial sustainability of the park and to remove reliance on park resources by those living around it. They are aiming to create a sustainable funding model with diversified sources of financing including grants, revenue from business initiatives and other loans and investments.

The Head of Internal Audit will be tasked with reviewing and strengthening their control system and to ensure that they are compliant with all relevant legislation, regulations and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review on an ongoing basis, organisational controls, operations procedures and regulatory compliance.
  • Review controls within their ERP system, and make recommendations to improve controls and functionality
  • Undertake risk assessment and risk management reviews on an ongoing basis.
  • Write reports detailing conclusions, and providing recommendations for improving controls and the organisation’s operations.
  • Identifies employment training required, and engages in staff development around best practice.
  • Conduct pre-audit reviews for individual grants and the organisation overall.

Person Specification

  • Degree in Economics, Finance, Business/Qualified CPA, CA CGMA, CIMA, ACCA
  • At least 10 years of internal audit, process review & improvement, and risk management experience
  • Experience in developing internal policies and procedures in a complex and rapidly growing organisation.
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and English
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent report writing skills in French,
  • Strong communicator, able to address issues and effect change, and work with and coach a range of finance and non-finance staff.
  • Organised, able to prioritise a varied workload, and manage this in a complex environment.

Our partner will pay the cost of a return flight, accommodation in the park, and offer a salary c. €45,000 annually. Please note, this role is only open to experienced internal auditors who are bilingual. Candidates are being considered on a rolling basis, and are encouraged to apply early.
