Your team’s mission?

The purpose of the Group Payments Tech Area is to transform Payments by fortifying existing platforms, simplifying and standardising processes and technology and by enabling our business through reusable end to end services.

As a Performance Engineer, you’ll bring the following experience:
  • Design and implementation of system benchmarks;
  • Ensuring scalability, reliability, predictability and capacity sizing of service deployments;
  • Performance requirements reviews;
  • Load test results analysis and reportage;
  • Provision and implementation of performance optimisations across software, storage, network and integration layers of the system;

In this role, you will have the opportunity to influence software design and specifications of highly complex and mission critical systems while working with a diverse team to implement cutting edge performance engineering techniques at scale.

You will be a member of the Engineering Chapter. As a member you will share ideas and knowledge and partner with your Chapter Lead to uplift the capability of the chapter.

What you bring to the role as a support Engineer in Payments:
  • 10 years of performance engineering (analysis, design, test and implementation) experience with a proven track record of excellence;
  • Extensive Java, Java EE, REST, XML, Messaging development experience with any Application Servers;
  • To be fluent in memory handling and analysis in Java; you will be an expert in escape analysis and memory leak analysis;
  • Sound understanding of Garbage Collection and memory settings of JVM;
  • A thorough understanding of concurrency in Java;
  • Experience in Performance Benchmark design, implementation, automation(load generation tools like Load UI etc.) and CI/CD tools;
  • Experience analysing performance issues related to database operations;
  • Have a thorough understanding of the practical aspects of concepts like caching, locking, thread safety etc.
  • Having worked in containerised deployment - docker; kubernetes; openshift etc.;
  • Willingness to promote and debate your ideas, and the capacity to accept accountability for, and learn from, failures.
