Risk Management is responsible for developing and deploying the risk frameworks to allow the Group to take conscious exposures to credit, market, operational, compliance and insurance risks within a Board-approved appetite.
CommSec Line 1 Risk provides risk advice, incident and issue management, control design and uplift, education and training to the business, and review services to support risk management across CommSec.

Risk Management has policy teams that specialise in credit, market, operational, compliance and insurance risks as well as business unit facing teams. These areas collaborate with each other and specific areas within the Group to implement the Risk Management frameworks.
The role is part of the broader CommSec Line 1 Risk team, which is structured under a federated model, and reports directly to the CommSec Advisor Services (CAS) business, with a dotted line to the CommSec Controls Office.
Key responsibilities will include:
Risk management is a fundamental component of the CommSec strategy.
The purpose of this position is to serve as the Line 1 Risk advisor for the CommSec Advisor Services business and support the Senior Manager Line 1 Risk to execute the range of services that support CommSec governance and risk management.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Senior Manager CommSec Line 1 Risk to manage operational and compliance risks within the CAS business.
- Assisting in managing CommSec governance forums, including preparation of reporting packs, taking minutes and monitoring actions.
- Assisting in the investigation and resolution of incidents.
- Raising and helping to manage the resolution of issues i.e. control weaknesses/gaps.
- Developing, testing and uplifting controls
- Maintenance of relevant risk profiles within RiskInSite, to ensure that risks, controls, issues and incidents are appropriately being reflected in the risk system.
We’re interested in hearing from people who have:
- Experience in or exposure to the stockbroking or financial services industry.
- Degree qualified in a finance, accounting, risk management, or similar.
- Experience in Risk management or Audit is desired.
- Proactive and self-starting individual with strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail and excellent communication (verbal/written) skills.
- Comfortable working in a high paced and unstructured work environment.
- Proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks.
