Reed Accountancy & Finance are working closely with a global manufacturing business in the greater Belfast area, and are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant / Accounts Supervisor.
The Job
The Assistant Accountant will assist the Accounting Manager with a broad range of accounting activities within tight deadlines.
Responsibilities will include:
Assist with the accounting for month-end closure
Prepare routine monthly reports and reconciliations for Corporate Head Office on a timely basis
Communicate with non-financial staff with respect to obtaining necessary information to complete month-end accounts
Assist Accounting Manager to prepare forecasts and budgets
Perform analysis of costs and prepare ad-hoc reports for Plant Operating Committee
Plan, organize and administer specialised accounting activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts
Prepare month end reconciliations and complex journal entries with complete back up in a timely and accurate manner
Process bank and petty cash transactions & month end bank reconciliations
Raise ad-hoc invoices for miscellaneous items
Process accounts receivable/ accounts payable transactions and reconciliation of sub ledgers
Compile financial information for account reconciliations and management meetings/ reporting
Ensure that all charges to the fixed asset accounts are categorized properly (comply with company policy)
On a monthly basis, reconcile fixed assets sub ledger to the general ledger. Maintain a computerised listing of all fixed assets, supported by appropriate photocopies of source documents
Prepare all fixed asset schedules for year-end audit
The Person
Candidates will have a degree qualification or equivalent in an accountancy discipline, or an Accounting Technician Qualification, or part professional qualification.
Candidates will meet the following criteria:
4 years' experience of working in a finance or accounting environment in a medium to large organisation
Experience of assisting with accounting for the month-end closure including the preparation and posting of complex journals
Experience of evaluating the accuracy of financial data
Experience using an ERP system, for example SAP, IFS, Oracle
Experience of processing accounts payable & receivable, Fixed assets, bank & petty cash transactions and reconciliation of sub ledgers
Experience of categorising all charges to fixed asset accounts
Experience from within a manufacturing environment would be advantageous
