T he opportunity We are looking for an innovative IT professional with excellent communication skills. You will join an award winning national R&D team containing technology specialists and tax professionals. Your role is to use your IT experience and knowledge to help the UK's most successful companies to assess their technical activities and obtain generous UK tax incentives.

Role description

The UK government provides tax incentives to businesses performing R&D; Deloitte's R&D tax services group is the acknowledged market leader in helping clients secure these incentives and is the largest in the UK. Continued market success has created new opportunities within our growing group and we are seeking a Technology Manager to help our IT oriented clients.

Location

This role will be based in one of our offices in Scotland

Responsibilities

You will be in a client facing role, conducting technical interviews and preparing documentation for UK tax authorities, HMRC. You will have the opportunity to use your IT knowledge and experience to help companies identify technical activities that are eligible for tax relief. This will involve discussing development projects with senior technologists (CTO's, Architects, and Programme Managers) from our client's staff.

Requirements

  • A broad and extensive background in IT such that you can understand and discuss technology over a broad range of industries and capabilities.
  • The role is client facing and relies on your ability to deal with senior technical people on a one to one to basis, conducting structured interviews.
  • The ability to write high quality technical reports.
  • It will be useful to have experience in as many of the following technical areas and Industries as possible:
  • Architecture, Software design and development
  • Complex systems integration projects
  • Embedded software within micro-electronics
  • Telecommunications networks and applications
  • Distributed systems
  • Database and data analytics
  • Complex internet technologies
  • Financial Services
  • Telecommunications
  • Digital Media
  • Aerospace and Defence
  • CTA or equivalent qualification
  • Prior VAT experience gained within professional services or HMRC
  • Excellent client facing, relationship building and business development skills, coupled with commercial awareness
  • The ability to be proactive, identify opportunity and take early responsibility
