Risk in Change Manager-Permanent Full time

Business and Private Banking (BPB) secures and enhances the financial wellbeing of people, businesses and communities, particularly CBA's small and medium-sized enterprise clients, including in rural and regional areas, as well as the needs of CBA's online trading, broking and private banking clients.

The role forms part of the established Line 1 Risk community in BPB to ensure effective oversight, governance, assurance and management of risks and controls across BPB.

The role sits in the BPB Risk Management and Controls Office.

Do work that matters:

As a member of the centralised Risk Office, Risk in Change team, your role will contribute to the effective management of risk associated with BPB change. This team supports the inception, execution and embedding of change across the organisation. This team is responsible for the identification of risks associated with changes / projects, assessing these risks within the context of Group and BPB’s risk appetite and risk profiles.

A key responsibility for this role includes:

The BPB Risk in Change Manager will be a trusted advisor to BPB and key stakeholders across the Group, and will be accountable for:

  • Driving the effective use of the Risk in Change Framework across BPB, and ensuring it is well embedded & Three Lines of Accountability (3LoA) across BPB as it continues to evolve.
  • Providing insight and recommendations on key risk and change control issues within material projects, including changes to our products, processes, businesses or operating models.
  • Undertaking targeted reviews / deep dives in areas of concern; and control environments where increased transparency is required.
  • Act as a gate-keeper by ensuring all material changes (or as otherwise defined by the ORMF or Risk In Change Standard) are suitable to be deployed and implemented into BPB
  • Ensure controls are effectively designed and operating that result from changes to BPB products, systems or products
  • Support the Risk In Change front door process and scrum
  • Manage the monthly Risk In Change reporting requirements including NFRC and other LT and ad hoc reporting

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Strong technical skills and knowledge base in Operational Risk management-related activities / functions, particularly Risk in Change.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong workshop facilitation skills
  • Advanced communication both written reports and verbal
  • Strong ability to find solutions that are in the best interest of both the customer and CBA, using advanced questioning techniques.
  • An ability to have difficult conversations with stakeholders that through professionalism will preserve the long-term relationship.
  • A passion for risk management and is a strong team payer
