The B&PB Controls & Customer Outcomes (CCO) Team supports the Business Bank to deliver on our customer promises and meet stakeholder expectations by working with all lines of business to continually review and enhance the control environment across Business and Private Banking. Key areas of focus include Regulatory Risk Controls, Financial Crimes, Governance and Assurance, Conduct and Capability, Culture and Risk Transformation and Customer Outcomes.

Your team

The Project Hastings team within the CCO team is responsible for planning, co-ordinating and leading improvements in privacy compliance with the Australian Privacy Act across Business and Private Banking.

The position of Business Analyst will sit within Project Hastings within the Controls and Customer Outcomes Team, with the objectives to:

  • Support the roll-out of a new Privacy policy suite including procedures defining key privacy controls to meet regulatory obligations
  • Identification and analysis of key privacy control gaps
  • Solutioning for the remediation of key privacy control gaps
  • Support the planning and roll-out of a new Group-wide automated privacy impact assessment process across BPB
  • Support the identification and recording of systems and services used to collect or handle CBA customer personal information
  • Support the identification and recording of third parties used to collect or handle CBA customer personal information
  • Support the analysis of current state controls used to ensure appropriate access to key systems containing CBA customer personal information
  • Support the identification of electronic records containing CBA customer personal information

Your Impact & Contribution

Coordinate the definition of business and functional requirements and provide specialist support for the project and emerging privacy advisory function. Gather information and analyse business needs to identify opportunities for improvement in business operations and processes.

Liaise with stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies, and operations of functions to design, implement and embed recommended solutions that enable the project to achieve its goals.

Your Reporting Lines

The Business Analyst (BA) is required to maintain, build and manage productive relationships with the following individuals:

  • Delivery Lead, Project Manager, PMO, Business and Delivery Owner
  • Business Analysts (BA)
  • Technical BAs/Solution designers (ES)
  • Business, Risk, System and other SMEs
  • Change Owner and Organisational Change Management Team
  • Line 1 and Line 2 Privacy Advisory functions
  • Line 2 Group Privacy Office
  • BPB Business Unit (BU) stakeholders (10-15 teams)
  • Other BU stakeholders (e.g. RBS, IBM, ES, Risk)
  • Other third parties
  • Central (Group) Hastings team stakeholders

Your Responsibilities

You will be expected to perform the following tasks in a manner consistent with CBA's Values and People Capabilities.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Current state analysis of core capabilities spanning across B&PB end-to-end functions
  • Tabulate and synthesise current state analysis to support playback and validation with senior stakeholders
  • Support Delivery Lead/Project Manager with business case preparation, including formulating value hypotheses; benefits identification and quantification; cost estimation; and project plan creation
  • Identify and represent opportunities for capability uplift. Illustrate any gaps in capability that are impacting delivery
  • Develop target capability or service descriptions and supporting operating models
  • Manage analysis, design or related project activities to tight timelines (and budget, where applicable)
  • Support timely implementation and embedding by assisting engagement, co-ordination, design and execution support.

Undertake any other tasks assigned by your manager that you have the capability to perform safely in line with relevant internal Bank policies and external regulatory requirements.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience operating “in the grey”, in fast-paced environments undergoing complex change
  • Proven ability to shape poorly defined problems using creative and critical thinking
  • Ability to identify opportunities to expedite delivery of process/controls uplift, with commercial acumen
  • Demonstrable experience in value chain analysis, operating model design, capability and process modelling techniques
  • High levels of resilience and personal integrity, with strong interpersonal, collaboration, influencing and negotiating skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with ability to act with high levels of autonomy
  • Advanced written communication skills with excellent attention to detail
  • 3 + years financial services and/or risk management experience essential
  • Knowledge and experience in using industry recognized project management and/or solution delivery methodologies, specifically Agile/Hybrid & Waterfall.

Your Qualifications

  • A tertiary degree in a relevant field, such as business, finance, statistics, math, law, science, technology
  • Formal Business Analysis, Project Management and/or Agile qualifications desirable
  • Proficiency across Microsoft Office particularly PowerPoint and Excel

Desirable:

  • Relevant business and/or IT postgraduate tertiary qualifications
  • Recognized industry certifications/accreditations in project management theory and methods.
  • Privacy Program/projects experience
  • Risk management projects experience
  • Regulatory projects experience
  • Remediation projects experience
