The VAT Consultant is responsible for the provision of high level VAT consultancy services to clients and ensuring the best practice across the Firm in VAT matters.

Our client is a top 100 accountancy firm with a reputation for their technical knowledge and capability. They are fully rounded business advisers assisting their clients with the long term planning of their business.

Description

  • Managing a range of VAT consultancy projects for clients
  • Conducting VAT reviews to identify potential planning opportunities for clients
  • Conducting VAT reviews to identify VAT savings and mitigate VAT exposure
  • Conducting VAT Health checks and specific sector reviews such as partial exemption reviews to identify and act upon planning opportunities, VAT savings and mitigate VAT exposure
  • Providing technical briefings to partners and staff
  • Providing technical briefings to clients
  • Providing a VAT helpline and consultancy service to accountancy, business advisers and legal clients
  • Attending networking and other events to identify opportunities for additional VAT and other fees for the firm.
  • Forming and maintaining strong relationships with external bodies e.g. UK200 group, trade groups and professional bodies
  • Management of WIP, debtors and billing
  • Any other task to ensure the smooth running of the VAT department

    • Profile

    The VAT Consultant will be a highly self motivated individual with a working knowledge of VAT gained through practical experience. The AIIT qualification is not essential but is an advantage.

    Experience of working in HMRC is not essential but is an advantage. Applicants must be able to research, interpret and explain complex technical issues with confidence to a varied audience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are key as is the ability to engage with senior personnel from a variety of backgrounds.
