MANAGER, GENERAL ACCOUNTING
OVERVIEW:
KPMG Jamaica Extended Support Services (JESS) seeks to identify a Manager, General Accounting (GA) who will be responsible for sub-processes within Finance and Accounting, and oversees all GA team members as well as the processes performed by the team. This position applies knowledge, independent judgment and firm policies to complete complex accounting and/or finance related job responsibilities and assignments. The Manager, General Accounting performs work of a technical or analytical nature, requiring special skills, training, education and related practical experience.
The Manager, General Accounting will have in depth knowledge of the process area and will encourage a continuous improvement culture within the teams. The GA process area performs tasks related to maintaining the general ledger, reconciliations, preparing and processing journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, and maintaining information within various accounting systems. Additional requirements include preparing and delivering reporting, analytics, and quality assurance.
The position will be assigned to our rapidly growing KPMG Jamaica Extended Support Services (JESS), which provides services to a major Client in the United States.
Profile
The successful candidate should possess strong project and people management skills along with advanced accounting experience. Specifically, the candidate should demonstrate:
* strong technical and supervisory skills to lead a department of at least 20 resources performing various receivable activities and support their professional development;
* the ability to identify and implement improvements in collaboration with key stakeholders;
* the ability to exercise professional skepticism and provide critical insights; and
* strong analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills
Core Function
Reporting directly to the JESS Senior Manager, Finance and Accounting, the Manager, General Accounting will supervise the GA process area to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Core job responsibilities will be to:
* direct, evaluate and plan in collaboration with key stakeholders all activities within the GA function;
* monitor, analyse and assess the performance of the JESS GA delivery organization and recommends and develops procedures or processes to continuously improve efficiency and product quality delivery by the team;
* perform quality assurance reviews of deliverables and ensures that it meets Client's expectations and timelines
* prepare and deliver special and complex reports on performance analysis of the department against contractual parameters and company standards; and
* provide leadership, train, coach and develop assigned personnel including setting performance criteria and conducting performance appraisals.
Professional Qualification
The successful candidate should possess:
* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or equivalent professional accreditation; and
* Minimum of seven years' progressive and relevant accounting experience, with at least five years' experience in a people management capacity
