This is a unique opportunity to join the Business Finance Officer (BFO) team supporting the Fixed Income Credit trading business within Global Markets. The BFO team is part of Product Control (PC) and is an integral part of the wider CFO function.
This role is challenging and offers a steep learning curve where you are expected to gain hands on experience dealing with Profit & Loss, Accounting, Valuation and Risks across the full spectrum of Fixed Income products.
Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for daily validation of Risk & P&L arising from the firm’s trading books and include P&L Reconciliations, P&L Adjustments, P&L Attribution, New Trades Analysis, Cancel & Corrects, Provisions Validation, P&L Postings, P&L Commentary, P&L Analysis and Trader Rejections.
- You will perform monthly substantiation of the Balance Sheet which include Journal postings, Account Reconciliations, Balance Sheet Analysis and Analytical Review, Month-end cut-off controls and FX hedging.
- You will prepare accounting disclosures which include Fair Value (FAS157), FAS 133, FAS 166, EITF, IFRS 7, IFRS 9 and Regulatory disclosures including Methodology Extensions and Finance to Risk reconciliations.
- You will identify weaknesses in our controls and processes and take ownership of issues by proposing and implementing solutions.
- You will evolve our relationships, and engage in issues raised by other departments including Front Office, Trade Management, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Valuation Risk & Control, Financial Planning & Analysis, Operational Risk and Control, Accounting Policy and Assurance, Regulatory Assurance and Change the bank teams.
The Credit BFO team deals with products ranging from vanilla Bonds, Credit Default Swaps, Interest Rate Swaps and FX swaps to complicated Structured Trades including Note issuances, Options, Exotic Derivatives and bespoke Structured Lending solutions.

Product Controllers are the Financial Guardians of the Bank’s sales and trading activities. This is a Business Control role within Product Control, which is responsible for the integrity, completeness and accuracy of all trading Profit & Loss. You will work closely with Front Office traders on daily P&L analysis and commentary. You will also work with the Line Control team on daily, monthly and quarterly verification and reporting. This role supports the European Capital Markets business dealing in equity, debt and leverage finance products.
Your main responsibilities will involve:
- P&L Validation and Analysis (including clean P&L), Journal Entry and Review, Commentary (inventory analysis)
- Providing analysis and information in response to ad hoc requests from various areas throughout the firm (e.g., Front Office, Tax, and Regulatory)
- Assisting in Sarbanes Oxley testing and documentation
- Providing User Acceptance Testing support for various projects and strategic system roll outs, as well as support for new business initiatives
- Quarterly Fair Value and Accounting Standards disclosures and associated commentary

You Offer
- You have keen interest in the financial markets and financial products (prior PC experience is advantageous).
- You are detail-focused and have a control mind-set (prior SOX experience would be an asset).
- You are an excellent teammate who is effective at building relationships but who are also able to work independently.
- You possess intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel such as Vlookups and Pivot tables (prior experience in Macros or R-Studio is advantageous).
- You have a demonstrable academic track record and a minimum of undergraduate degree (major in Accounting, Finance or Engineering is advantageous).
- You are fluent in English.
- You possess previous experience working in a financial control role.
- You are a dedicated self-starter ho loves sharing knowledge with others.
