Risk & Controls Manager

Business & Private Bank (B&PB) offer a wide range of services and solutions to our small to medium, enterprise customers and our regional and agribusiness customers.

We also take care of our personal and institutional online trading customers and our premium personal Private Banking customers.

You will be a trusted advisor for operational risk related matters and be responsible for ensuring the effective management of operational risk within the BBS.

The Business Risk and Support Services Team provide risk advisory, planning and management information, call monitoring and capability development to BBS.

This is a Line 1 Risk role in the BBS to ensure effective identification, management and governance of all risk and compliance issues across the business. The role and extended team will:

1. Provide risk and compliance governance, guidance, analysis, oversight and control assurance testing for the BBS.
2. Have responsibility for the effective management of risk and compliance within the BBS and ensure compliance with the Group’s Risk Appetite Statement including Operational Risk Management Framework (“ORMF”).
3. Work closely with Executives and Managers across the BBS to co-ordinate operational risk management activities in the business in the most effective manner.

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

This role is responsible for driving continuous improvement and optimisation of the control environment in the BBS. This includes:

• Providing comprehensive and integrated risk service and risk management advice, and co-ordinate and implement effective risk management and compliance activities across the BBS as required by the groups Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF).
• Organising regular Risk and Compliance forums, focussing on the appropriate management and measurement of end-to-end risk and controls in the business;
• Providing relevant reporting to the Committee / Forum members, e.g. overview of incidents, issues, actions, control assurance results (including assurance undertaken by the Executive Manager, Risk and Controls, on common controls across B&PB), trends, emerging risks, escalations and risk acceptances, etc.;
• Driving continuous improvement in the end to end risk and control environment across the BBS.
• Responsibility for the effective management of credit and operational risk within the BBS as evidenced by Dashboard reporting

We’re Interested in Hearing From People Who Have:

• Ability to manage a large and varied stakeholder group at all levels of seniority
• Experience in Credit Risk; Operational Risk and Compliance management
• An understanding of business banking end to end
• A strong understanding and knowledge of the risk and control environment in a major bank
• The capacity to work in a busy, commercial, competitive environment and the ability to meet objectives / targets and deliver customer service
• Strong conceptual, analytical, research and problem solving skills
