- Oversight of Statutory and Regulatory Reporting for the Australian & NZ business
The role;
Our client is a Global Insurance business and due to an internal promotion they are currently looking for an experienced Senior Manager to manage their Statutory & Regulatory reporting team. Reporting directly into the General Manager of the business you will lead a team of 6 direct reports as well as the offshore team. The team is responsible for supporting the business with internal and external regulatory and statutory reporting.
Key responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Accountable for the performance and results of the Financial Accounting & Reporting team
- Supervise preparation of accurate and timely regulatory, statutory and group reporting
- Collaborate with the Financial Accounting Operations and GSSC teams to deliver financial close and reporting activities
- Champion and implement continuous improvement within Financial Control
- Influence the behaviors of employees in alignment with the culture set out by the Australia and New Zeeland Finance Leadership Team
- Contribute towards the management of talent by developing and retaining high calibre individuals
- Actively contribute to the execution of the strategic objectives of Australia and New Zeeland's Finance whilst driving efficiencies and process optimisation for financial control processes
- Comply with the regulatory and statutory requirements for external reporting whilst establishing and maintaining consistency and control of financial calculations.
- Maintain relationship with the GSSC Leads and work as an extended team to deliver the Financial Accounting & Reporting processes effectively
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in ANZ and Group Finance, across the Division and with GSSC
- Analyse regulatory and statutory reports, collecting comments and making appropriate adjustments to meet the reporting requirements for internal and external purposes
- Manage regulatory relationships to ensure true and fair representation of the financial reports and proactively assess future regulatory requirements
- Report financial information to relevant business leaders and Financial Control Division Lead and update the reports on the basis of comments received
- Provide visible leadership and deliver effective and timely communications to the Financial Accounting & Reporting team
- Build a strong culture of accountability, to ensure output and quality of the services meet stakeholder/customer expectations and are in line with agreed KPIs
The business is looking for a candidate with the following skill set;
- CA / CPA Qualified
- General insurance experience is essential
- Strong Statutory & Regulatory Reporting experience
- An excellent understanding of accounting standards (IFRS / AASB) and principles
- A strong people leader with experience managing a team of a number of direct reports previously
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to work closely with individuals both junior and superior
- High level of initiative and results orientation
- High attention to detail; strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills, supported by an ability to identify the key issues and business drivers behind the numbers
Salary - $180,000 - $200,000 + Super
