We are an established 2 partner, ACCA qualified firm, with nearly 20 employees and an enviable client base. We have recently invested heavily in beautiful offices, technology and staff to grow the business and want to maintain this growth by recruiting further high-quality professionals. We are looking for an experienced tax accountant who is able to organise and manage a large portfolio of clients to ensure compliance deadlines are met.

We are pioneering new tax planning projects and need you to lead these to completion. You will be working under the supervision of the Head of Technical Services and will be responsible for delivering high quality and compliant services to our portfolio of clients.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Tax planning and advisory work for corporate and personal clients.
  • Review, preparation and submission of Personal Tax Returns.
  • Research and Development Tax Credits - liaising with clients to determine if the company meets the relevant criteria, preparation of required schedules, reports and statutory accounts.
  • Pre & Post Year End Tax planning - reviewing Accounts and tax positions and providing/recommending tax planning options.
  • Preparation and submission of Company Accounts and Tax Returns.
  • Leading on HMRC tax investigations.
  • Inheritance Tax - reviewing the clients current IHT position and providing recommendations to reduce future tax liability.
  • EMI and other share schemes
  • Preparation of annual P11Ds and Director salaries.
  • Liaising with HMRC— general tax queries.
  • Liaising with statutory legislative bodies
  • Client systems analysis and recommendations
  • A variety of other tasks as part of the smooth running of the company and team
  • Preparation of Management Accounts, cashflows, forecasting and budgets
  • Assisting with training of junior staff

About you:

  • Minimum 5 years UK Practice experience
  • Ideally has UK accounting qualification e.g. ACCA/ACA/ATT/CTA
  • Excellent knowledge of VAT, Personal and Corporate Tax
  • Experience with tax investigations and dealing with HMRC
  • Must be able to organise and manage a large portfolio of clients, and work with the wider team to meet internal and external deadlines
  • Ability to complete jobs all the way to partner review
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent IT skills, in particular MS Office and accounting packages
  • Experience of Xero, Taxcalc and Sage accounting software an advantage
  • Experience of managing others an advantage
  • It would be ideal, but not essential, for you to have experience with clients in media, creative, fashion, branding/PR and digital/technology industries.
