PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Responsible for the Company's statutory accounting system, procedures and records including monthly reporting of actual results.
* Prepare annual and quarterly financial reports to satisfy requirements under the Company Law and the Jamaican Stock Exchange.
* Coordinate and manage the external audit process.
* Effectively manage the treasury function, insurance, fixed assets and all statutory payments.
* Lead, manage and coordinate the Financial Accounting and Reporting process for the Company, and monitor, highlight, and ensure that areas of significant variances are brought to the attention of the Local Leadership, including playing a participatory role in finding and implementing corrective solutions.
* Monitor the financial performance of the Company, with emphasis on monitoring profit and cash performance to assist the leadership team in ensuring financial targets are met.
* Coordinate and effectively manage the deliverables of the Finance department to external and internal stakeholders. This involves either direct management of pre-defined key performance indicators, or proactively managing and monitoring issues to resolution.
* Annually review all aspects of the Company's insurance portfolio with group and local insurance brokers to ensure that all risks are adequately covered and effectively managed.
* Monitor the systems and procedures for the maintenance of local, foreign and inter-company debtors' and creditors' accounts, to ensure prompt and efficient receipt of payments; and maintaining the systems and procedures for the purchase and recording of fixed assets.
* Ensure that British American Tobacco (BAT) reporting requirements and guidelines are adhered to.
* Provides key support to the Finance Director.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
* Supervisory and management experience and the flexibility to deal with people at a variety of levels in different countries, both internally and externally.
* Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
* Effective coaching and team building skills
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office) and SAP preferably.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
* Professional Accounting Qualification - ACCA, CPA or equivalent.
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting at a senior management level, preferably in an FMCG.
* Sound knowledge of Jamaica's tax regulations and reporting requirements.
* Knowledge of the Company's accounting systems (SAP), procedures and practices as well as BAT's reporting requirements.
* Ability to analyze, identify gaps and propose solutions.
