Robert Half are recruiting for an integrated energy giant headquartered in London with a global turnover exceeding £8 Billion and over 13,000 employees globally. The organisation has operations spanning electricity generation and gas and are the UK's biggest supplier of electricity by volume in Great Britain and the largest supplier to British businesses. They are currently looking to recruit for a Senior Technical Accountant to their ever-growing finance team.

As a Senior Technical Accountant, you will report directly into the Technical Accounting Manager. Although the role has a technical title there are large commercial, value add elements to this position. The position sits within the Corporate Finance team and 40% of the role will be commercial. You will be business partnering with different sectors of the business. The division this role sits within is on the cutting edge of the commercial decisions the business is making due to the fact the organisation needs to understand the accounting aspect of deals they are making. There will be a large amount of interaction with the M&A team around acquisitions and disposals. You will be one of the first people signing the NDA and getting stuck in to what the company is trying to do for the future. The role has a large commercial element as the business needs help with understanding how accounting for new contracts work and advice on what any changes would mean. The technical aspect of the role will be around IFRS 9 and hedge accounting due to the fact EDF are involved with a lot of trading with commodities contracts e.g. coal and gas. A main part of the role will be to increase business awareness of this standard, preparing training and holding sessions to raise awareness of the standard. As the head office is in Paris, you will liaise with Paris on how London is treating hedge accounting.

Salary & Requirements: £55-57.5k + Further benefits including a yearly bonus. The ideal candidate will be fully qualified, come from a practice background and possess prior IFRS9/Hedge accouting experience.
