Retail Banking Services (RBS) is the public face of CommBank, delivering a seamless banking experience for the future, to our 10 million + personal and small business customers. We offer market-leading products and services, supported by some of the world’s best systems and processes.

The Home Buying team has end to end responsibility for the Commonwealth Bank’s home loans business. We support the proprietary and third party sales and service teams to meet our customers’ needs for home finance and advice.

The role sits within the Home Buying Risk and Controls team and will support the business through the delivery of the Home Buying Controls Centre.

Within the Home Buying Controls Centre you will play an integral role in building a world-class, insight-driven Detective Control Framework. You will have an opportunity to be involved in the design, delivery and continuous improvement of this new and exciting framework. In addition you will have the opportunity to execute on improvements to overall home lending quality.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Commitments Control Assurance, Home Buying, your contributions will directly impact our ability to strengthen our risk and control environment, enhance risk management practices in the RBS business and help achieve the Group’s vision.

Key responsibilities will include:

As a Business Analyst – Home Buying Controls Centre, your core responsibility will be to assess the need for, build new and enhance existing detective controls.

You will analyse out puts of the investigation, remediation and lending quality team to spot trends and conduct root cause analysis to look for opportunities to improve our policies, processes and systems as part of a continuous improvement framework. You will also have the opportunity to propose and work on improvements aimed at reducing the number of incidents and issues from manifesting in the Home Buying Environment.

  • Producing Functional Requirements Documents
  • Analysis and interpretation of exception report data including volume and trend analysis
  • Root cause analysis and liaising with other teams to implement change
  • Providing input to improve existing customer resolution framework including process flows
  • Evaluate effectiveness of proposed solutions, processes and methodologies, and make recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Establish insights into key issues and assumptions and provide feedback to key stakeholders
  • Identify project delivery issues and risks, assist with mitigation strategies, and escalate where necessary

  • Working knowledge of Home Buying systems and processes is desirable
  • Experience in continuous improvement activity
  • Ability to build business requirements and design and implement new processes
  • Project Management skills
  • The capacity to work in a busy, commercial, competitive environment and the ability to meet objectives and deliver exceptional customer service
