Reporting directly to the Controller, the Sr. Accountant develops financial status and implements systems, which are electronically driven, for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting financial information for the company.


Prepare and input all journal entries including maintenance of all automated entries from Excel files and standard journals.

Successfully executes month–end financial close by day 4 in order for the controller to ensure that the monthly reporting package is promptly sent to corporate by business day 5.

Calculate inventory reserve for obsolete and slow–moving inventory (quarterly).

Calculate LIFO reserve (quarterly).

Analyze production costs and associated variances (material, labor, and OH).

Maintain fixed asset ledger and software to properly record assets in correct classification and depreciation years/methods.

Support A/P, cash application and credit memo processes when necessary.

Perform account analysis on all high–risk accounts.

Perform bank account reconciliation monthly.

Participate in cycle count audits.

Review monthly inventory accrual of received/unvouchered inventory items; and prepare related journals.

Run monthly cost accounting reports; prepare selected monthly journal entries; prepare monthly inventory roll forward; calculate monthly cost of sales; prepare other supporting cost of sales support schedules.

Prepares for month end or year–end period financial and worker's comp audits

Prepares reporting for property and state sales tax returns.

Prepares year–end tax schedules for corporate submission.

Reviews period end inventory reports, inventory receipts/shipments and monthly transactions to ensure reporting accuracy.

Reviews weekly purchase price variance repots and communicates corrective actions on actual costs to determine if current standard costs are to be updated. Ensure that there are no zero costs in the ERP system and all inventory is appropriately valued.

Perform other duties as assigned/required.


This position requires a level of knowledge that is usually associated with a BS Degree in Accounting with 5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy, thorough and organized required

Excellent verbal and written skills.

Strong business acumen and confidentiality a must.

Ability to work independently with minimum supervision in a fast–paced environment with concentration on continuous improvements.

Advanced computer skills with MS Office and accounting software, QuickBooks and ERP databases.

ERP/MRP costing and accounting knowledge.
