What will your typical day look like?

You are a systematic yet creative economist, who loves using a variety of quantitative and qualitative analytical frameworks, models and techniques to assess issues relating to the economics of agriculture, agribusiness, natural resources and environment.

You will capture your findings in reports and craft compelling presentations to influence key decision makers in the nation's largest commercial organisations and government.

We offer economic and policy advisory services to clients across government and the private and not-for-profit sectors, and pride ourselves on providing the highest calibre analysis and advice. Every single day with Deloitte Access Economics (DAE) is different.

The Agribusiness & Natural Resource Management team (within DAE) is a specialist practice that operates nationally. We provide the highest quality analysis and advice to the most complex policy issues and challenges and imperatives of sustainable economic development and drivers of growth for Australian agribusiness. This includes agribusiness (across all industries), natural resources (including water, forestry and fishing) and environmental issues (such as waste, native vegetation, land management and climate change).

Our advice applies a variety of analytical frameworks, models and techniques, informed by the latest economic theory as well as insights from other disciplines in social science and public policy.

Enough about us, let's talk about you.

We're looking for an Associate Director or a Director candidate with

  • A minimum of eight years of experience as an economist, project manager, researcher or policy advisor,
  • Ideally experience in consulting or specialist economic agencies within the Australian or State Governments
  • A degree in economics, public policy, or other related disciplines, with strong academic results
  • Formal qualification and/or experience in agricultural economics, agricultural science, environmental economics, or natural resources is essential
  • An agile working style with the ability to manage multiple research projects
  • Good critical thinking skills, adeptness in a project team environment, confidence working with/interpreting data, and a motivation (and agility) to learn from and with your colleagues
  • A passion for policy and the application of frameworks and theory to real world issues, in particular a genuine interest in regional Australia
