Team Lead, General Accounting
KPMG Jamaica Extended Support Services seek to identify a Team Lead, General Accounting who will be responsible for leading the JESS general accounting staff, while addressing tight deadlines as well as a multitude of technical and analytical accounting activities including reconciliations, year-end schedules, and other general accounting tasks.
The position will be assigned to our rapidly growing KPMG Jamaica Extended Support Services (JESS), which provides services to a major client in the United States.
Profile: The successful candidate should possess strong analytical and people management skills along with advanced accounting experience. Specifically, the candidate should demonstrate:
• strong technical and supervisory skills to lead a team of resources performing various general accounting activities and support their professional development; • the ability to identify and implement improvements in collaboration with key stakeholders; • the ability to exercise professional skepticism and provide critical insights; and
• strong critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills.
Core functions: Reporting directly to the JESS General Accounting Manager, the General Accounting Team Lead will supervise the general accounting staff to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with established policies and procedures. Core job responsibilities will be to:
• oversee the team who performs the execution and delivery of the in-scope General Accounting tasks ensuring accurate and timely month end closes • apply knowledge, independent judgment and Client's policies to complete moderate to complex accounting or finance related job responsibilities and assignments. • prepare and review a variety of reconciliations, analyses and special complex reports • perform quality assurance review of team members' delivery and ensures it meets expectations and deadlines. • complete performance reporting of the GA work product against contractual parameters • bring a customer-centric focus to the role and act as the first point of escalation to ensure high levels of Client satisfaction. • encourage and support the identification of continuous improvement initiatives such as automation and procedural enhancements • provide leadership, train, coach and develop assigned personnel including setting performance criteria and conducting performance appraisals.
Professional qualification: The successful candidate should possess:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field from an accredited college or university; and • A minimum of five years progressive accounting experience, with at least three years in a supervisory role. • Advanced knowledge of GL and accounting for Balance Sheet Reconciliations and Analysis, Other Account Analysis and Fixed Assets • Working knowledge of SAP General Ledger Module a plus
