Our client is looking for a Group Financial Controller to join their team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall financial control of the Group.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring the day-to-day financial operations within the company/Group
- Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Ensuring that the company's financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth
- Constantly investigating improvement of processes
- Driving development of ERP system optimization and assisting with ERP queries, training and development of new processes
- Assisting with and overseeing all Group debtors and creditors and providing necessary support
- Ensuring that the requirements of all statutory bodies are met
- VAT submissions
- PAYE/UIF/SDL submissions
- Dividends withholdings tax
- Income tax
- Companies Act
- Providing financial management and support to the controlling stake investments, JVs and partnerships
- Providing operational support where required
- Keeping up to date with the latest SARS and IFRS changes and implementation thereof
Accounting:
- Maintaining financial records and preparing general ledger accounts and ensuring that the general ledger is maintained for all entities and is accurate and up to date at all times
- Preparing and recording journal entries
- Maintaining the fixed asset register and calculating depreciation journal entries
- Preparing project work-in-progress calculations
- Calculating commission payable on a monthly basis for sales employees
Financial Reporting:
- Driving the month-end and year-end close process
- Preparing monthly consolidation workings
- Preparing monthly management accounts for the Group
- Liaising with external auditors
- Co-ordinating the audit process
- Overseeing the preparation of audit files and providing assistance where necessary
- Understanding, monitoring and reporting key business and financial drivers
Cash flow / Treasury:
- Ensuring that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements
- Releasing payments
- Actioning inter-company transfers and forex conversions
Budgeting:
- Assist Financial Director with the preparation of the Group's budget
- Reporting to management on variances from budget as well as reasons for variances
Working capital:
- Reviewing large overdue accounts with Divisional Managers working on joint plans to drive collections
- Participating in financial risk analysis, payment method structuring and overdue account escalations to ensure improvement of the account receivable portfolio
- Negotiating favorable credit terms from suppliers and monitoring accounts payable performance
- Driving visibility of inventory, accounts payable and cash collections performance
- Driving a decrease in overdue debtors by analyzing operational drivers and driving process improvement
Other:
- Ensuring that insurance policies are up to date
- Submitting and managing insurance claims as and when they arise
- Financial controllership of stock takes, cycle counts, inventory management
- Assisting the Financial Director in the preparation of Board packs
- Reviewing customer and supplier agreements
- Ensuring legal compliance
- Assisting with driving the BEE strategy
- Compiling necessary documents for submission to the verification agent
- Ensuring BEE compliance
- Attending to ad-hoc stakeholder queries / information requests
