Financial Accountant

This permanent Financial Accountant will be based in central Leeds and will manage the transactional function of this medium sized charity. Working closely with the Financial Controller you would have full autonomy of leading the financial accounts team of six whilst overseeing statutory accounts duties, right up to sign off by the Financial Controller. Duties for the Financial Accountant will include:

• Working closely with the Financial Controller to produce the year end accounts in line with charity SORP.
• Provide support and leadership to six transactional staff, ensuring a high quality of work is always maintained.
• Review current systems and processes, feeling confident to suggest areas where improvements could be made.
• Oversee cashflow management, analytical work and ad hoc monthly reporting.
• Act as the lead on VAT reporting.
• Maintain the organisations fixed asset register and oversee risk management.
• Liaise with external and internal stakeholders of all levels.

This organisation has an annual turnover of around £30 million and is going through an exciting period of growth. This opportunity would suit a part qualified Accountant who is a confident team leader, now looking for a new challenge. Experience in the charity sector is desirable but not essential.

This successful candidate will be:

• A part qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA) or qualified by experience.
• Experienced in managing staff.
• Experienced in year-end processes.
• Knowledgeable around VAT, tax and audit requirements.
