We are looking for an experienced senior accountant to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. Senior accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. A successful senior accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyse financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate has also experience collaborating and/or managing a team of accountants and junior accountants.

Senior accountant duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
2. Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
3. Analyse financial information and summarize financial status
4. Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
5. Provide technical support and advice on Management accountant
6. Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
7. Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers
8. Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
9. Provide input into department's goal setting process
10. Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
11. Assist with tax audits and tax returns
12. Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
13. Plan, assign and review staff's work
14. Support month-end and year-end close process
15. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
16. Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
17. Liaise with our Head of Financial improve financial procedures

Qualifications

• BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant. Masters will be an added Advantage
• Relevant certification (e.g. ACCA or CPA) will be preferred
• Good communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.

Experience

• Minimum of 5-10 years' experience in a similar role.
• Previously worked in a 4star or 5-star hotel
• Should be very conversant with the SUN accounting system
• Must have a CPA qualification (either completed or ongoing
• Must have managed a team previously
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Awareness of business trends
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
• Hands-on experience with accounting software packages,
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
