MANAGER- FINANCE (CONTRACT)
REPORTS TO THE GROUP TECHNICAL ACCOUNTING LEAD
GUARDIAN SHARED SERVICES LIMITED, WESTMOORINGS
JOB OBJECTIVE:
The Manager - Finance will report to the GHL Technical Accounting Lead on the Build and Test Portfolio of Work for the IFRS 17 implementation. The Manager - Finance will work on key l projects integral to, the development and implementation of IFRS 17.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
For 6 Business Units (BUs) across three territories (Jamaica, Trinidad and Curacao):
1. 1.
Financial Statements and Charts of Accounts (COA)
* Perform journal entry testing on Group COA using examples of insurance contracts for each BU.
* Develop training material for BUs.
* Conduct training for BUs on COA and financial statement development.
* Support BUs in the development of their BU-level COA and financial statements.
* Review and test BU COA via detailed journal entry testing.
* Review mapping of BU COA to BU financial statements.

Technical Accounting Papers
* Facilitate working group sessions with BU personnel to test accounting decisions.
* Conduct research on technical accounting matters arising from these papers.
* Update technical accounting papers with results of working group sessions and research.

Expense Analysis
* In conjunction with BU finance and actuarial teams, conduct an analysis to:
* Identify insurance cash flows;
* Determine a basis for allocating cash flows to insurance, if applicable;
* Determine basis of allocating insurance cash flows to different portfolios of insurance contracts.
* Identify where expenses must now be tracked on a by-policy level.
* Work with the IT and Operations Departments to develop a method to automatically account for fulfilment cash flows given the needs identified above.

Financial Statement Close Process (FSCP)
* Review and document the existing financial statement close process across all territories.
* Identify changes required as a result of the IFRS 17 implementation.
* Work with BUs to develop and implement required changes to the existing FSCP that are efficient, effective and consistent across all territories.

Any other duties as required for the IFRS 17 implementation or GHL Finance.
EDUCATION:
* ACCA qualified with 5 years post qualification or First Degree in Finance or related field from a recognized tertiary level educational institution.
* Financial System Support:
* First Degree in Computing, Information Systems or a related field from a recognized tertiary level educational institution.
* Project Management Certification an asset
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
* 5 - 7 years' experience in Accounting, post qualification.
* At least 3 years' experience at a Managerial level.
* Minimum of 2 years/ experience with insurance accounting; and a working knowledge of Life, Health and Pension insurance processes and products.
* At least 2 years' experience using Oracle EBS, Ingenium, Webstar systems.
* 3 years' experience in Business Process Re-Engineering.
* Experience with the use of Process Mapping, UML, ERD diagrams in documenting business requirements and reporting tools and techniques.
* 3 years' experience with the use of SQL or other database languages.
* Knowledge of financial accounting and financial statement analysis.
* Familiarity with use of financial packages and software.
* Knowledge of Government Legislations, Regulatory / Compliance Guidelines across the Group Companies which may affect the organization concerning financial risk management.
* Experienced in the use of quantitative analysis, statistical models and valuation tools and techniques.

The ideal candidate must possess very good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to effectively schedule work, set quality targets and meet deadlines. He/she must be proactive, decisive and therefore must possess the ability to make effective decisions in a prompt manner.
