Fund Accountant - RE Private Equity
Strategic Development Solutions ("SDS"), founded in 2001, is an impact investment manager. SDS manages four distinct impact funds: National New Markets Fund (NNMF)($542M), Develop Michigan Real Estate Fund (DMIRF)($60M), the American South Real Estate Fund (ASREF) ($58M) and the Supportive Housing Fund (SHF)($100M+). SDS's funds provide senior debt, mezzanine debt, and equity to high–impact projects that benefit low–income communities in target locations.
SDS is seeking an experienced applicant for a Fund Accountant position for the SDS Supportive Housing Fund. SHF is SDS's newest fund and it will provide construction financing for Section 8 housing in response to California's homelessness epidemic. This is a highly–innovative impact fund that is anticipated to become a new model for alleviating homelessness using market–rate capital. The Fund Accountant will be responsible for the general day–to–day maintenance of partnerships and investments of the Fund. This position will be officed in SDS' headquarters in Los Angeles.

The primary job responsibilities can be broken down into 3 general categories:
?? Calculate & track capital calls and distributions
?? Maintain capital commitment report
?? Maintain investor capital accounts
?? Manage monthly expense accruals and payments
?? Process invoices via wires and checks
?? Calculate management fees
?? Prepare quarterly cash reconciliations
?? Prepare general ledger journal entries
?? Maintain accounts payable and receivable logs
?? Prepare financial reports including balance sheets, operating statements, cash flows, and other accounting reports
?? Oversee the fund's annual audit
?? Review project and fund level income tax returns and audited financial statements
?? Review daily cash balance report
?? Maintain cash projections
?? Assist in managing line of credit borrowings and pay downs
?? Maintain interest accruals and amortization of fees related to credit facility
?? Process deal fundings
?? Process expense reports & reimbursements
?? Read and understand deal structure and all related agreements/documentation relating to the investment
?? Periodic review of investment performance and Company's intent against underwriting
?? Ad–hoc assignments in support of fund operations
?? Completion of undergraduate degree; preference for accounting focus or MS in Accounting
?? Preference for someone who has done this work for a private equity fund
?? Minimum 4 years of direct (not audit) fund accounting experience required
?? Must be a detail–oriented person with outstanding analytical skills.
?? Strong computer skills required, especially Excel and QuickBooks
?? Interest in impact investing.
?? Self–starter, focus on accuracy and commitment to adhering to procedures a must.
