The Role
The role of the Head of Finance is responsible for leading and directing the Finance Function processes including financial planning, budgeting estimates, developing short/long term functions goals, supporting accounting practices, structuring credit and control activities and providing relevant advice and guidance to functions as may be necessary to ensure alignment and compliance with company's strategy and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead and direct the development of the Finance Function strategy by consolidating different functional strategies in line with the business's strategy to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing functional strategies across the group.
*Ensure that functional strategy and related strategic plans are developed and implemented, which are aligned with the vision and mission of the company.
*Oversee the consolidation and recommend the Finance Function budget.
*Monitor the financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, and potential areas of cost reduction or performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon.
*Acts as a strategic financial partner to the CEO and Board of Directors on the financial positioning, highlighting strategic plans, financial budgeting, cash flow, treasury and policy matters.
*Supports the CEO in the development of the corporate strategy and participates in the decision-making process for new market entries.
*Finalizes the annual budget for the organization and reporting functions in alignment with the organizational plans.
*Assists the CEO in the annual budget approval process and co-approves all major CAPEX initiatives.
*Manages & analyses the annual budget spend for the organization and monitors deviations if any; including monthly reports (e.g. forecast versus budget) by division/branch and provide recommendations.
*Directs the preparation of and reviews the business cases that could support the top management team on aspects of planning, budgeting, forecasting, performance review and assessment.
*Monitors the overall financial performance to ensure profits are protected and enhanced through awareness of anticipated costs / revenues, excesses / deficits, areas of unsatisfactory performance and potential performance improvement opportunities.
*Leads the development of the financial policies, guidelines and standards in line with the corporate guidelines, reporting requirements and international accounting standards.
*Serves as the principal contact with internal and external auditors and ensures that they are provided close cooperation and assistance in the discharge of their responsibilities, including all financial statements and reports.
*Oversees and directs all financial accounting activities related to accounts payables, accounts receivables, general ledger and cash management.
*Ensures completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting including the coordination and completeness of annual audit reviews and ensuring compliance with all legal, statutory and audit requirements.
*Effects the provision of operational guidance and support to the functions ensuring requisite financial reports (financial statements, financial reports and special analysis) are produced accurately and according to established schedules.
*Endorses an optimal investing philosophy for surplus funds based on analysis done on cash flow forecasts and approves the definition and effective implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
*Provides guidance and advice, related to the management of cash flow, cost controls and expenses for different functions identifying potential financial opportunities and weaknesses and recommending corrective actions.
*Recruit, interview and hire finance, accounting and payroll staff as required.
*Lead, manage, develop and motivate a high-performance team
*Define goals and key performance indicators for each member of the Finance
*Manage the team members by evaluating their performance providing feedback on an on-going basis, identifying development needs and coaching them to ensure capability development.

The Candidate
*15 years of relevant experience in a Finance role including at least 10 years in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities
* Sound knowledge of Financial and Management Accounting
*Strong knowledge of Financial Planning and Budgeting
*Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls and compliance-related issues
*Understanding of International accounting Standards (e.g. IFRS)
*High level Analytical & problem-solving skills
*Hands on ERP system experience: SAP, Oracle
*Excellent communication & presentation skills
*Strong negotiation skills
*Strong demonstrated leadership skills
*Strong planning and organizing skills
