About Plum Dental Group ("Plum")Plum is a dynamic, high growth Dental Support Organization (DSO) with sixteen locations in RI and eastern CT. The Company's affiliated dental practices provide comprehensive general, specialty and cosmetic dental care to over 20,000 patients annually. As a DSO, we are responsible for managing all administrative support functions of the dental practices including marketing, HR, insurance, accounting, billing, etc so that dentists can focus on treating patients and not have to worry about the nuts and bolts of running a practice.
The Company is approximately two years old, is growing rapidly organically and through practice acquisitions, and currently has ~150 total employees.

The Financial Accountant will serve as a key member of a small finance and accounting team responsible for ensuring proper processes and controls, assisting in monthly closes, preparing operational dashboards/metrics, and, in conjunction with the operations team, managing the full revenue cycle.
The candidate should be a self–starter, energetic, have an excellent work ethic, and be able to operate independently and with limited direction. They should also have a sense of humor and great interpersonal and communication skills.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesRevenue Cycle ManagementUnderstand insurance billing processes and transactional flow through our practice management systemEstablish and document clear processes that drive the efficient and accurate processing of claims, payment applications, and revenue recognitionWork with insurance providers to ensure prompt collection of claims, resolve any issues, and build processes to increase efficienciesEstablish and enforce policies and procedures amongst front desk staff to support accurate claims submission to insurance providers, payment application, and accurate financial reportingProactively identify claims payment /collections issues and take initiatives to resolveImplement procedures to facilitate prompt collections of patient payments and copaysFinancial ReportingFull cycle revenue, accounts receivable, and collections reconciliation for each practiceProper allocation of revenue between specialties (General Practice/Hygiene/Specialists)Analyzing general leger account activity and preparing any necessary journal entriesCalculation of bad debt reservesSupport the update of the underlying data for management reportingSupport month end/year end closes, annual financial audit, tax return preparation, and regulatory auditsPrepare weekly operational metrics and monthly operational dashboardsSupport automation initiatives within finance and accounting team and cross functionally with operations teamContinuously challenge current processes as the business evolves to suggest and implement improvements in policy, procedure and systemsCross train with other team members to provide bench strength and ad hoc supportProvide quality customer services to internal (cross functional partners) and external customers (insurance companies, vendors, patients)Foster the discussion and diffusion of best practices throughout the organization
RequirementsBachelor degree is required with preference for Accounting major2+ years of public accounting preferred; CPA a plus but not requiredExperience with healthcare services and insurance claim processingKnowledge of healthcare billing and collections and working with payors is a plusAdvanced knowledge of QuickBooksAdvanced experience with Microsoft Excel including ability to utilize database tools like pivot tables and lookup formulasAbility to work with all levels of the companyStrong organizational, project management, communication and social skillsAmbition, confidence, humility, empathy, team playerWillingness to embrace technology to solve problems/increase efficiency
