JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing financial modelling support to the Programming Acquisition team during Charter's video content affiliation agreement negotiations – including negotiations for carriage rights for cable networks, local broadcast stations, regional sports networks, premium networks, and more. This role requires a keen attention to detail and is comfortable in a fast–paced role where schedules and turn–around times are often dictated by deal pace.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Build detailed financial models that assess the valuation of each turn of a contract negotiation and clearly assess the bid/ask spread and resulting impact to budget
Summarize the results of the analysis, concisely boil down the model into a brief and cohesive story, and develop recommendations to be delivered to executives
Assist in the development of short and long–term plans and budgets for video programming expenses
Provide value–added analysis to ensure that financial awareness is built into departmental decision–making activities
Maintain keen awareness of cable industry dynamics to provide macro points of view and the creative/critical thinking required to formulate positions
Create complex economic and pricing models and conduct timely deal analysis; determine emerging financial trends across the industry
Work cross–functionally to support the Marketing and Product teams by providing financial guidance and insight in terms of pricing and planning, and new product profitability
Create and maintain value measurement systems to assess the financial impact of programming expenditures
Perform other duties as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

Advanced financial modelling skills
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Keen attention to detail
Ability to identify creative solutions and isolate key issues quickly
Ability to clearly articulate rationale and support for positions and results
Ability to turn numbers into meaningful stories and present across all levels of the team – from Junior Analysts to senior executives
Familiarity with reading and comprehending legal/contractual language is a plus
Pay–TV industry experience is a plus
SQL database familiarity is a plus

Education

Bachelor's degree in finance or equivalent training, education and experience

Related Work Experience

5+ years of related experience in financial planning & analysis type role
