Description

Our client is looking for an Graduate Assistant Accountant to join their Accountancy team in Farnborough on a 12 month basis

* Collect, reconcile and analyse financial data as directed and assist in providing statutory, statistical, audit and taxation information on a timely and accurate basis.


* Group accounting - assist with monthly reporting. To ensure accurate financial information is reported on a timely basis.

* Trial Balance and balance sheet reconciliations - Data Integrity and Financial Integrity. To ensure there are no material errors in balance sheet accounts, that all differences are fully investigated and explained, that bank suspense account items especially are reported, investigated and resolved appropriately.

* Interface reconciliation - from Contract Management Systems (e.g. SEAL, ProFinance, Commercial Finance Solution) to the General Ledger. To ensure reconciliations are documented, outstanding items investigated on a regular basis and effective financial control over interfaced data is maintained.

* VAT and Tax - assist with preparation of periodic VAT returns, tax claims and annual corporation tax schedules before relevant deadlines to ensure that returns are filed in an accurate and timely manner and any refunds due are monitored to successful conclusion.

* Accounting errors - Identify, investigate and correct items in core accounting systems (CMS and General Ledger), fix errors at customer agreement level. Improve working processes and suggest system improvements.

* Assist in preparation of annual returns, other statutory returns, and annual accounts in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and so that Financial Statements are prepared and approved by KPMG and Board prior to submission to Companies House (UK and Ireland) and statutory obligations met.

Profile

A successful candidate will either be a graduate or studying AAT/ACCA/CIMA
