Family Smiles Dental Care is seeking a full–time Controller to serve as the focal point for all financial operations for our four dental practices in Houston, Texas, and three practices in California. Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Controller develops and executes financial policies and procedures. The Controller is directly accountable for the functions of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budget preparation, logistics functions, and develops administrative controls and internal audit procedures, and other operations as may be necessary. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting skills and experience, as well as interest in the value that financial management provides in planning for growth, managing assets, and generating revenue. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but are not limited to) Responsible for monitoring annual operating budget and informing CEO of any problems, etc. Analyzes revenues, costs and makes recommendations for improvements when necessary. Determines costs of operations by departments, sites, and units of operations. Provides timely, complete, and accurate financial statements and reports (FSRs) and analysis Manages the purchasing activities of the dental practices. Manages cash flows and patient fee–generated revenues. Manages, directs, and advises in maintaining the general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, capital improvement plan, equipment replacement program, and all other accounting operations. Sets up internal audits to protect the company against fraud and misuse of company funds. Implements and monitors compliance with current accounting policies and procedures. Reviews requests for capital expenditures, constructs business case, and presents to Chief Executive Officer with recommendations. Supervises vendor management of all tax deposits and payroll. Manage balance sheets, P&L, Cash Flow Statements, Support the implementation and execution of financial initiatives. Establish a Monthly Review of all financial related information. Cash Management review bank reconciliations audit areas or offices with consistent issues Liaison with investors, external auditors, and tax preparers. Manage state business registrations and annual reporting. Completing audits and financial compliance activities to comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings Client, vendor, and independent contractor contract creation and maintenance Managing any outsourced financial activities COMPETENCIES: Excellent judgment and creative problem–solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skillsSelf–motivated, reliable individual capable of working independently as well as part of a team.Organized, detail–oriented individual able to work in a fast–paced environment.Ability to multi–task effectively without compromising the quality of the work.Entrepreneurial team player who can multitaskSuperior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peersSelf–reliant, good problem solver, and results oriented.Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, vendors, and staff. QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Proven working experience as a Financial controller Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with emphasis on accounting, or related field Excellent QuickBooks accounting software user and administration skills Strong understanding of all accounting related functions including AR/AP, forecasting, planning, & payroll Experience with general ledger functions and the month–end/year–end close process A results orientation with proven track record in Finance Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer. A minimum of three (3) years dental practice management experience and two (2) years in a supervisory capacity Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP) Strong understanding of economic and banking processes.
