Newly created role within small finance function of a growing group of companies, headquarted in Bristol (Avonmouth) but operating nationally.

Client Details

My client are a group comprising of three companies operating in the manufacturing and construction sectors (combined turnover is circa £40m). This role comes about as a result of a decentralisation of finance from their US parent company. You will be working for an excellent Finance Manager in a head office team of 10-15, working closely with the Senior Management Team, senior sales staff and the MD.

They are about to expand their site and their manufacturing capacity which in turn is expected to drive significant growth in their finance team, which represents an amazing opportunity for rapid progression for the Assistant Accountant

Description

The Assistant Accountant will support the Finance Manager in all aspects of day-to-day finance, meaning an extremely broad range of responsibilities. These may include:

  • Accounts Payable
  • Accounts Receivable (including chasing of payments)
  • Creating and Posting journals
  • VAT returns
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Assisting with month end
  • Finance Admin tasks
  • Supporting other departments
  • As part of this transformation the UK business will be going through a system migration onto Sage in the next couple of months (so Sage experience is beneficial). This means that many processes and controls are either in their infancy or not yet established. As such this person will need to be pro-active and flexible, able and willing to get stuck in to a wide range of tasks, from administrative through to complex, and prepared to work really hard to get the finance department up to speed.

    • Gets stuck in - enjoys a role with a mix of basic/administrative tasks and more complex, challenging responsibilities.
    • Progressive - this role will expand in the medium-term, as the business and team grows

    Skills and experience-wise, the following will be beneficial:

    • Flexibility - you need to able and willing to pick up ad-hoc tasks when required

    • Excel Skills including Vlookups, Pivots and basic formulae
    • Knowledge of Debits and Credits as most work is manual entries

    • Progressive - this role will expand in the medium-term, as the business and team grows

    Job Offer

    This role will pay a basic salary of £22-25k.
