Accounts Assistant - 6 Month Contract

A Large national travel company located in Wakefield is currently looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their Accounts team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing company and has a very strong permanent potential for the right candidate.
You will have the following duties:
*Performing daily cash and bank reconciliations for national depots.
*Working with the depot staff and cash collection companies, in a timely manner, to resolve cash discrepancies that may arise on the reconciliations.
*Banking and balance sheet reconciliations including journal postings.
*Highlighting areas of financial risk within the cash process to management on a timely basis.
*Focus on areas where the cash process can be standardized and simplified and work to the ethos of 'right first time'.
*General administrative tasks.
*Assisting with interim/year-end audit and tax packs.
*Responding to ad-hoc queries from depots staff and management.
The ideal candidate will have the following experience:
*Oracle experience preferred.
*Work well as part of a team and on own initiative.
*Flexible to potentially cover other areas of the order to cash accounting and reporting process if required.
*Experience in performing cash and bank reconciliations.
*Good working knowledge and understanding of general ledger postings.
*Accurate and timely data processing with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
*Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
*Effective written and verbal communication (verbal communication/emails to depots and cash collection companies).
*Good Microsoft Office skills specifically Outlook, Excel (intermediate) and Word (basic).
