Our partner is a leading humanitarian and development organisation. They are seeking an experienced finance professional and exceptional finance business partner to oversee and support the operations of a portfolio of countries.
Working closely with the country teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for strengthening internal, assurance & risk management processes, supporting the budget creating & management process, and targeted capacity building.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, strengthen and develop internal controls, ensuring that these are compliant with local, organisational and donor regulations and requirements.
- Oversee day to day accounting activities, including transactions & reconciliations.
- Support in the annual budget process.
- Develop monthly management accounting & reporting
- Oversee and ensure accurate and timely grant compliance and donor reporting. This includes:
- Supporting in developing budgets for proposals
- Overseeing proper documentation of spending
- Preparing monthly management accounts for individual grants, and the organisation as a whole.
- Implementing proper cost allocation of donor grants.
- Working with the global finance function to develop and implement assurance and risk management tools, and supporting the country offices in ensuring that they understand and are able to meet donor & organisational audit requirements.
- Identify challenges and issues affecting the country finance functions, and supporting them in finding solutions to these. This includes providing accounting & financial training and capacity building.
Person Specification
- Accountant, with experience in developing internal controls, systems and processes, and financial management within a large INGO. Experience of working in a humanitarian organisation is desirable.
- Strong grants finance experience, including experience in managing DfID, ECHO, USAID and UN grants.
- Exceptional business partner, with strong cultural awareness and able to build effective relationship with a variety of staff and stakeholders remotely and in person.
- Experience of coaching and capacity building of staff
- Analytical, with experience in developing and manging budgets on a full cost recovery basis, and analysing operations.
- Strong IT and systems skills, ERP systems experience in highly desirable
- Excellent organisational skills, able to manage a complex workload.
- French is desirable
