My Science and Research client based out of Granta Park, Cambridge (Near Hinxton) are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Assistant Accountant to work within the Finance team on a temp to perm basis. This is an excellent opportunity to participate in an exciting and fast paced environment.

As an international Science and Research group are focused on the development of its cutting edge products and services based out of their excellent Grant Park Offices. A medium sized business offering great progression prospects for the right Assistant Accountant based in the new R&D research facility at Granta Park. The size of the company ensures a transparent link between all activities from operations to finance.


The successful temp to perm Assistant Accountant will be available at no longer than 1 weeks notice but ideally immediately available and based locally to Hinxton/Granta Park with the following Key Duties:

  • Calculate Project Accruals & Accrued Income
  • Prepare and enter monthly journals
  • Calculate and post Accruals / Prepayments
  • Assist in the Preparation of information for External and Internal auditors on annual and quarterly basis
  • Assist in the construction of the Company Statutory Accounts
  • Debtors/Creditors Revaluation
  • Work with Financial Assistant to resolve supplier (creditor) queries
  • Assist in the maintenance of control documentation
  • Prepare Office National Statistics returns
  • Calculate FTE and recharges for month end and invoicing purposes
  • Assist in the production of Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Take charge of Asset Register and Prepayment schedule
  • Conduct regular impairment reviews of assets
  • Enter onto Sage purchase and sales invoices.
  • Ad hoc as required


Assistant Accountant Candidate must possess the following:

  • Final stages AAT or Part-qualified Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA) or by work environment experience equivalent
  • Experience in assisting on period end accounts
  • Nominal Ledger office experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A positive 'can do' attitude
  • Sage practical knowledge
  • High competence in Excel (Pivot Tables, V-LOOKUPs etc)
  • Excellent attention to detail
