Upstream Finance Analyst

Purpose:

The R&A Analyst will focus on operational excellence in the delivery of their process responsibilities.

They will build a deep knowledge of the outputs required and ways of working to deliver these, along with the tools and systems that are an integral enabler of the process.

They will work collaboratively with colleagues in R&A and their peers from other processes where operational excellence or data integrity impacts on the R&A delivery.

The role will have a mix of deliverables between complex accounting and reporting activities.

Ensuring business transactions are accounted either automatically or manually in line with the Standard Global Processes as well as Shell and External accounting guidelines or to build accounted numbers into standard reports.

This could be through automation of systems or manual interventions

Period End Reporting

• Lead coordination and support timelines for monthly, quarterly and year end closing
• Support Month end closing, ensure correct and complete cost accruals
• Execute, Monitor and analyse exchange rate, cutback, settlements and cost allocation programs monthly to ensure accurate reporting
• Variance Analysis and Commentaries for monthly movements in Profit and loss and Balance Sheet statements
• Ensure periodic monitoring of master data information, support GL extension, clean ups
• Preparation of reports for stakeholders reviews
• Independently troubleshoot issues that arise, make adjustments and corrections as needed
• Support internal controls requirements by ensuring proper execution and retention of evidences
• Challenging as is process and suggesting/making improvements
• Support User Acceptance training when required

Projects

• Support Fixed Asset Continuous Improvement project where necessary
• Support Cost Management Reporting project where necessary
• Obtain thorough understanding of system and process currently in place
• Assist to perform run and main tasks until improvements are delivered
• Brainstorm improvement ideas, share proposals, calculate estimated cost benefits, perform testing and follow through implementation
• Influential stakeholder management skills

Dimensions

• R&A Analysts support Group Reporting, Controllers and Finance Managers in their work for the Shell Australia Upstream business. R&A Analyst will have close interaction with the various stakeholders within FO (inside and outside R&A), Group Reporting as well as various class of business.
