Senior Manager, Valuation Control

The Role:

A very exciting opportunity has been made available for an experienced Senior Manager within Product Control & Valuation Control to work closely with key stakeholders from the business as well as other members of the finance team to deliver advice in a timely and accurate manner. You will be Reporting to the Financial Controller, Valuation - Financial Markets and be responsible for oversight of the valuation processes within the Group treasury & banking functions, ensuring that valuations are appropriate, in accordance with accounting policy. The Valuation Control team works closely with the dealing room and Risk Management to understand new products, valuation techniques and market developments relevant to pricing.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the completeness & accuracy of valuation processes, including ownership of the outcomes for areas of responsibility within a control environment.
  • Implement strong fundamental knowledge of fixed income, FX, commodities & energy financial products with reference to their valuation and risk characteristics
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers across finance and treasury stakeholders, including Risk & Dealing Room.
  • Drive and implement process improvement within the team

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and CA/CPA Qualified
  • 5 years + Institutional and Finance Markets experience in a valuation role.
  • Working knowledge of Financial Market products with a focus on derivatives
  • Detailed knowledge of accounting practices within the finance industry, including IFRS & APRA Reporting
  • A systematic worker with a strong understanding of Excel & Access
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal and listening) with an ability to communicate complex and/or financial issues in an understandable manner
