EVP - CHIEF FINANCE OFFICER

Air Mauritius Ltd, the National Carrier of Mauritius, is seeking to recruit a dynamic and highly motivated candidate to fill in the position of EVP – Chief Finance Officer. JOB PROFILE:
Reporting to the CEO, the EVP-Chief Finance Officer will lead and manage all aspects of the Company and Group Finance and Accounting, including Treasury and Risk Management and all statutory and management requirements as well as internal control enhancement. He/She will develop and enhance the quality of strategic financial management of the Company and the Group to create and increase shareholder value in an environment undergoing major transformation.
The duties and responsibilities will include the following inter-alia:
- Responsible for the strategic financial management of the Company and the group (including balance sheet management and risk management).
- Responsible for all finance related functions of the group, namely accounting, tax processing and reporting, and treasury and funds management, procurement, insurances, investments and budgeting.
- Develop and set sound financial and accounting policies for the airline and the group.
- Manage the Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Risk and Procurement team. Groom and develop staff, develop, implement and continually review sound financial systems and controls across all channels. Maintain effective liaison with External and Internal Auditors and ensure rapid implementation of recommendations for improvements in internal control.
- Maintain effective liaison with providers of financial resources to the company, including banks, leasing and lease finance companies, export credit agencies and other similar institutions.
- Continually be at the forefront of current best practice in the airline industry (and develop/maintain a global industry bench marking database).
- Provide financial advice and support to enable the development and implementation of business strategies of the airline.
- Be responsible for the development and maintenance of the group’s consolidation and reporting data base and continually enhance the group’s financial structure.
- Develop and enhance the company’s performance measurement and management systems.
- Explore ways to grow the business, its profitability and value creation by looking at its internal operations, management, assets utilization, while assessing the financial and operating risks of the business.
- Effectively monitor and report on the key financial performance indicators of the group and actively participate in the risk management strategy and monitoring of the group.
- Participate in formulation of Company’s strategies as a member of the Executive Vice President Team.
- Provide support and resources to all subsidiaries of Air Mauritius whenever required.
- Provide support to the CEO in all matters relating to general management and corporate affairs including good corporate governance.
PREREQUISITES:
- Member of a Professional Body as recognized by the Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants (MIPA)
- Holder of a Masters Degree
- Been for more than 15 years functioning at least as a VP or equivalent position in the Finance Department of a reputable organization, dealing in with multiple currencies and in an international environment
Note 1: Candidates having experience in an airline or aviation environment may be an advantage.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- Seasoned professional having a broad knowledge of finance functions including but not limited to Financial Reporting, Management Information Systems, Treasury activities, Strategic business planning, Financial planning and budgeting, Corporate Finance, Investment appraisal, Revenue streams identification and enhancement, Cost Reduction/Containment programs and Risk Management
- Ability to lead, monitor and mentor a team of Finance professionals
- Strong commitment for regular investors’ interaction
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to deliver under pressure especially in an environment prone to transformation
- Excels in team building with a proven track record of people’s management
